Two Arrested Over Trang Grenade Attack as Police Seize Explosives

Police in Trang province have arrested two men over a grenade attack on a house in Yan Ta Khao district last week. Officers also recovered two more hand grenades that were reportedly meant to be picked up by people involved in the plot.
Investigators are still looking for a third suspect and others believed to be behind the attack.
The arrests were announced on October 18 after a joint operation by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), the Crime Suppression Division and Trang provincial police. The suspects, 22-year-old Kanokphong and 27-year-old Traiwit, were wanted under warrants issued by the Trang Provincial Court on October 16. They face charges of attempted murder and illegal possession and use of explosives.
According to reports, a grenade was thrown at the wall of a house in Yan Ta Khao at about 9:51pm on October 15. Officers reviewed CCTV footage from nearby roads and traced a motorcycle believed to have been used in the attack to Kanokphong.
Kanokphong reportedly admitted taking part in the attack with another man, who remains at large. He told investigators that Traiwit had supplied the explosive. When questioned, Traiwit allegedly admitted to storing grenades and handing them over to the attackers.
Acting on that information, police located two more explosives that were due to be collected and recovered them from a roadside spot in Mueang Trang district. The items were two green-grey ARGES-84 fragmentation grenades, along with packaging material. Police said seizing them prevented them from being used in further attacks.
Both suspects reportedly admitted to the allegations during questioning and were transferred to Ban Nai Khuan Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Officials say the attack is one of several reported incidents targeting residential properties in Trang, though police have not confirmed whether they are connected. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence to track down the remaining suspect and identify anyone who may have organized or supplied the explosives.
