Thai Airways Opens Compensation Claims for Passengers Hit by Flood Delays

Thai Airways is inviting passengers whose flights or baggage were disrupted by late-September flooding to apply for compensation. Applications are being accepted through the airline's customer service channels starting October 16.
The airline announced the process on its official Facebook page on October 16. Heavy rain and flooding hit Bangkok and other parts of Thailand from September 26 to 30, leaving passengers with delayed or cancelled flights and late-arriving bags.
The board will assess each case individually, weighing the circumstances and losses involved, in line with applicable laws and regulations.
How to Submit a Claim
- Online: Passengers seeking compensation for a delayed or cancelled flight, or needing documents for an insurance claim, can use the online platform on the airline's official website.
- In person: Passengers can visit the customer care centre at the head office on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road in Bangkok. It is on the first floor of Building 3 and is open daily, including public holidays, from 8:30am to 4pm.
Thai Airways says it will process applications promptly and notify passengers of the outcome.
Complaints and Leadership Scrutiny
Some affected passengers say responses have been slow and the claim process difficult to complete. Others have asked the airline to contact them directly by email, pointing out that it already holds their details from their bookings.
The handling of the disruption has also put the airline's management under the spotlight. CEO Chai Eamsiri is reportedly facing a 30-day fact-finding investigation into how the situation was managed. Samrit Samniang, a board member and former senior executive vice president of PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP), has been appointed acting CEO.
Affected passengers should check the airline's official channels for the latest claim procedures and any supporting documents required.
